What JOEY does on its own

JOEY works inside your DriveCentric account as an agent. It texts, emails and calls your customers without waiting for anyone to press send. This page lists what it does, the checks it runs before its texts and emails, and how to stop it.

Live today: JOEY sends on its own. Texts and emails pass the checks below before they go out. Each check says where it does not apply. You can switch your account to View-only / Draft-only mode at any time.

What it does

  • Answers customers who write in

When a customer texts or emails, JOEY writes the reply and sends it.

  • Follows up with leads and customers

JOEY works through your leads and customers and sends follow-up texts and emails on its own schedule.

  • Starts first contact on new leads

On a new lead, JOEY leaves a note, places a call, sends the text opt-in request and sends an email built from the lead's details.

  • Places calls

JOEY places calls for first contact and from the auto dialer when you have it switched on.

Checks before JOEY sends a text or email

  • Your customers only

JOEY reads every customer in the store. Before its follow-ups and first contact, it checks the assigned salesperson and sends only when you are the only person assigned. If it cannot tell who owns a customer, it does not send. Re-engagement follow-ups run this check too.

  • Opt-outs

A customer who has opted out of texts does not get texted.

  • Text consent

DriveCentric only lets a text go to a customer who has agreed to receive texts. Until then, the only text JOEY can send is DriveCentric's request for that consent, and JOEY normally waits 12 hours before asking the same customer again.

  • Quiet hours

Most follow-ups JOEY starts on its own are held outside 8 AM to 9 PM Pacific time and outside the working hours you set. These can go out at other times: replies to a customer who has just written in; no-show and after-delivery follow-ups; and, if switched on for your account, first contact on a new lead. Re-engagement follow-ups keep to 8 AM to 9 PM Pacific time but do not check the working hours you set.

  • Contact limit

By default, when JOEY has already texted, emailed or called a customer three times in three hours, it holds its next text or email to that customer, including a reply to a customer who has written in. The limit does not apply to first contact on a new lead, and it can be changed in your account settings.

  • No repeats

On its follow-ups, including re-engagement, JOEY does not repeat a text it sent recently, spaces out emails to the same customer, caps how many emails it sends in one session, and runs first contact once per lead. A reply to a customer who has written in also gets the no-repeat check; the email spacing and the per-session email cap do not apply to replies.

  • The right store

If your dealer group has more than one store and you have picked one, JOEY checks which store it is in at the start of each hour and holds its follow-ups while it is in a different one. Re-engagement follow-ups run this check too. If that check itself fails, JOEY does not hold the send.

How to stop it

  • View-only / Draft-only mode

Switch it on from your dashboard and JOEY stops first contact, calls and most of the follow-ups it starts on its own. It keeps reading your CRM. Messages you relay yourself still go out.

These checks lower the risk of a wrong message. They are not a guarantee. As our terms say (sections 7 and 11), you are responsible for your customers' consent, for the settings that control what JOEY sends, and for the hours and frequency of your outreach.
